VerifEye Technologies and Mobile Knowledge Complete G-Trigger Integration
Ottawa, Canada October 22, 2008
Ottawa, Canada, October 22, 2008 - Mobile Knowledge ("MKC") and VerifEye Technologies are pleased to announce completion of the integration between the Mobile Knowledge Series 9000 family of Mobile Data Terminals and the VerifEye Technologies G-Trigger solution. The G-Trigger is offered both integral to the latest VerifEye “G5” cameras and/or it can be purchased separately for older “G4” cameras.
The G-Trigger is a device that can register "aggressive" vehicle dynamics in four directions (acceleration, braking, left and right movements). Measurement in each axis can be weak or strong, resulting in a total of 8 possible events. When the G-Trigger senses an event, it communicates the event to the Series 9000 Mobile Data Terminal, which in turn reports the occurrence back to the Dispatch Center for later reporting and analysis. Weak G-Trigger events are sent back to the Host Dispatch software in real-time allowing for daily, weekly, or monthly creation of reports which may be used for audit, training, and maintenance scheduling purposes. Stronger G-Trigger events can be brought to the attention of the Dispatcher instantly, letting him know that a vehicle may have been involved in an accident.
Peter Salmon, Director of Sales with VerifEye Technologies explained the company's rationale for developing the G-Trigger, "VerifEye's industry leading camera technology is widely deployed throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. The primary purpose of our products is driver and passenger safety. In many jurisdictions, in-taxi cameras are mandated by the local municipality, and access to the video and images restricted to local authorities. Adding the G-Trigger to the VerifEye cameras provides a value-added feature that can reduce operating expenses, such as insurance and vehicle maintenance, for the taxi operators. This assists in offsetting the capital costs for the equipment."
The first customer to take advantage of this exciting new integration is Burlington Taxi of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Scott Wallace, President and Owner of Burlington Taxi explained his interest in this solution, "I was looking for security for my drivers and passengers first and foremost and a way to reduce my insurance premiums leveraging the VerifEye camera technology we had invested in. The integration of the G-Trigger feature with our Mobile Knowledge dispatch technology seemed an obvious means of realizing additional value from both systems."
Kevin French, Mobile Knowledge Chief Operating Officer, commented on the VerifEye partnership, "Mobile Knowledge is always working with our partners to help maximize their return on their technology investment. In this instance, VerifEye and Burlington Taxi came to us with the idea of using the existing Mobile Data Terminals as a communications path to the host XDS system to generate statistics on driving habits."
